Dry eye is a condition characterized by a lack of lubrication and moisture on the eye surface. Patients find it difficult to perform daily activities or wear contact lenses. Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is the leading cause of dry eye and occurs when the tiny glands in your eyelids, called meibomian glands, become blocked and can't produce enough of the oily layer in your tears --- leading to red, blurry, burning, itchy, scratchy, stinging, and watery eyes.
